New Provincial Health Measures for Schools

Dear Students/Parents/Guardians of Chinook

Please see the link below for the letter sent today by Dr. Cheryl Gilmore, Superintendent of Lethbridge School Division on implementing recent changes to the Provincial Covid Measures for schools announced yesterday.

At this time we are still working through some details on the implementation of the new rules, but I wanted to outline the major points for you.

1. Masking has changed for both students and staff. Staff will wear masks at all times in all areas. Students will also wear masks at all times and in all places unless sitting at their desk working independently. We are working on the ways to best manage this in busy classes where regular interaction is a normal part of every class. We will update students tomorrow on how this will look moving forward.

2. Until further notice there will be no spectators at sporting or performance events inside the school. This includes students, unless they are team members, team staff, or assisting with officiating or  running of the event. We will do our best to provide live streaming to events so spectators can
view them online. Please check our web site regularly for updated links to view events.

We know these measures are disappointing as we all hoped we would be out of the worst of the Covid pandemic by now. Please know that our goal right now is to be able to continue on a path that keeps our students, school and community healthy, and our students learning, growing and participating in the classes and activities that make high school the best experience it can be.

Have a good evening and enjoy the beautiful weather!
